The 1100L is the biggest wheelie bin we hire out, and at $179 flat for 7 days it's the one most people pick for a real cleanout. Garage clearouts, single-room renos, big yard tidies, end-of-lease jobs on a 3 or 4 bedroom place. GST, delivery and pickup are all in the price. We drop it on your chosen day, you fill it across the week, and we're back the following week to take it away.

How much actually fits in 1100 litres

1100 litres sounds like a number until you put a real load next to it. In practical terms it's about 4 to 5 trailer loads, or roughly 9 to 10 of the big council kerbside bins back to back. If you pack it sensibly (flat-pack the boxes, snap timber to length, break down anything bulky), you'll get close to 1.5 cubic metres of compacted waste into it.

For a tangible picture, that's enough room for a full kitchen rip-out from a 3-bedroom house: old cabinetry, benchtops, the splashback, the broken dishwasher, packaging from the new fit-out, plus the fortnight of household rubbish you generate while the kitchen's out of action. Or it's the full contents of a packed two-car garage, lifetime of bits and pieces included.

Footprint and where it sits

The 1100L is bigger than a council bin but smaller than a skip. The footprint is around 1.4m long by 1.1m wide, and it stands about 1.4m tall. It rolls on four heavy-duty wheels with a brake on the front two, so once it's in position it stays put. It sits flat against the side of the house, on the driveway, or in the carport. No verge, no permit, no traffic management. That's the whole point of a wheelie bin over a skip.

A skip needs a flatbed truck to drop and lift, a permit if it touches the verge or the road, and a clear straight run to drop it down. A 1100L wheelie bin gets walked in by hand. Garage clearout. A proper one. Old paint tins (empty), camping gear, boxes from the move 8 years ago.
Single-room reno. Kitchen, bathroom or laundry strip-out. The old cabinetry, tiles in small batches, lino, gib, light timber framing.
End-of-lease on a 3 or 4 bedroom house. The stuff you didn't want to move, plus the deep clean leftovers.
Yard cleanup post-storm. Branches, broken outdoor furniture, lifted fence panels.
Downsizing or estate clear. When you need to get a whole house empty in a week.

Access: what we need to wheel it in

The 1100L is wider than a council bin so the access matters. The minimum gap is about 1m, ideally clear of garden beds and pot plants for the run in. The wheels handle a gentle slope, brick paving, and the standard concrete strip down the side of an Adelaide home. Loose gravel and steep steps are the two things that stop it.

What can and can't go in

A 1100L wheelie bin handles general household waste, packaging, timber offcuts, plasterboard, carpet, furniture, broken whitegoods, mattresses (small extra fee on some), and light fitout waste from a reno. The full list is on the what can go in a hire bin post.

The big no-go list is short but firm: no asbestos, no soil, dirt or fill, no bricks, concrete or rubble, no liquid paint, no oil or chemicals, no gas bottles, no batteries, no tyres, no bulk food waste. Wheelie bins aren't engineered to carry the weight of soil and rubble. A bin half-full of bricks is heavier than the truck can safely lift, so the driver will leave it and we have to come back with a different vehicle. Pricing, extra days, and what's included

The flat 7-day price is $179 and that's it. GST is in, delivery is in, pickup is in. If you need the bin for longer than the week, extra days are $5 per day, so a 10-day hire works out at $194 total. When the 660L is the smarter pick

The 1100L is the right size for a real cleanout. If the job is smaller (a single room rather than the whole garage, a yard tidy rather than a full clear, one trade rather than a reno), the 660L at $129 will probably do the job and save you $50.
