What Can Go in a Hire Bin in Adelaide

Most of what comes out of a house clearout or a light reno is fine to put in a hire wheelie bin. The list of things that cannot go in is short, and it is the same list that catches people out, so it is worth a read before you book.
What you can put in
General household waste (furniture, clothing and soft furnishings, cardboard and packaging), green waste such as garden prunings, and light renovation waste: plasterboard, timber offcuts and carpet. Keep each bin within 150 kg. If it came out of a normal home clearout, it almost always goes in the bin without a problem.
Builders bins for light construction waste are available. Call 0481 274 420 for a quote. They do not take heavy rubble.
What cannot go in any bin
These never go in a hire bin, no exceptions, because they have to go to the right facility:
- Asbestos in any form
- Paint, oils, liquids and chemicals
- Gas bottles and aerosols
- Batteries
- Tyres
- Food waste left to rot
If you are not sure whether something counts, ring 0481 274 420 before you put it in. It is a quick question and it saves the bin being knocked back on collection.
The heavy rubble exception
Bricks, concrete, soil, sand, rubble and pavers are too heavy for a wheelie bin and are not accepted. That kind of load is what a skip is built for. If your job is mostly heavy rubble, a skip is the right tool, and there is more on that in skip bin vs wheelie bin hire.
Fill it to the rim, not over
Fill the bin level with the top so the lid closes and the load is safe to lift onto the truck. Each bin has a 150 kg weight limit. If you are filling up faster than you thought, ring and we will sort an upsize or a second bin. Pick the size with the size guide or see the full price list. A 660L bin is from $99 and an 1100L is from $149 for seven days, GST, delivery and pickup included. The price for your postcode shows when you book. Hire is across Adelaide metro only.
